Cori Jackson - Guitar and Piano
(858) 395-6261

Cori Jackson - Guitar, Piano, Ukulele, Bass

B.A. in Music Breadth- with focus on education
California State University Northridge

Cori has been teaching music for 10+ years. She has worked at Sierra Academy, a school for children with learning disabilities, and has volunteered teaching music and English in Peru. Her teaching philosophy is that music should be encouraged, not forced. She focuses on customizing each lesson to fit the student and strives to provide a positive and motivating learning environment.

 Piano Lessons:

Cori's instrument of study in college was classical piano and she performed biannually in front of a music jury. Though her musical background is rooted in classical piano, she has also worked at a dueling piano bar, where she performed piano arrangements of popular songs upon audience requests. Her varied skill set makes Cori uniquely suited to teaching students of all ages and levels, including students with special needs. Lessons can include performance, technique, theory, songwriting, ear training, jazz, pop, classical, etc.

 Guitar Lessons:

While in Peru Cori taught guitar lessons (in Spanish) to a large middle school class, and found her passion lay with teaching as opposed to performance. Most of her students are children just learning, or adults learning rock & blues. Lessons can be centered around a specific style like classical or jazz guitar, or a specific song. Lessons can include performance, technique, theory, songwriting, ear training, modes, improv, etc.

 Lesson offerings:

Performance, technique, theory, songwriting, classical, rock, pop, jazz, ear training, improv, etc.

Beginner method books include Faber & Faber, Bastien and Alfred. Custom arrangements of popular songs available upon request.

Recitals will be held upon the instructor’s decision.
